Building Your Deck Box in the Forge, Step by Step

Maybe you know exactly what your dream deck box looks like. Maybe you have no idea yet, just the itch for a box that feels like yours. The Forge, our online configurator, was built for both kinds of players. This guide walks you through it step by step, from first draft to checkout, with a live preview updating along the way. A simple configuration takes a few minutes; polishing every detail takes as long as you enjoy it.

Step 1: pick your starting point

Open the Forge and make your first call: start from an existing theme or from a blank canvas. The gallery offers fully sculpted designs such as Aurum Nexus, Abyssal Wrath, Eye of Eternity or a pirate universe, all of which you can then tweak to taste. The blank canvas lets you build your box from scratch.

Whichever path you take, the foundation is the same: a deck box that holds up to 125 standard double-sleeved cards, enough for a Commander deck with its tokens, a Standard deck, a Pokémon league deck or a Lorcana deck, with a snap-fit closure that won't pop open in your bag.

If modularity is more your thing, the Proteus is configured in the Forge too, with its base, magnetic panels and swappable medallions. This guide focuses on the classic deck box, but the logic is identical.

Step 2: the box color

Eleven base colors are available: white, black, red, blue, light blue, green, purple, brown, plus the three Starlight effects, Nebula, Comet and Twilight, which carry their sparkle right inside the material. The base color sets the tone for the whole build: a deep black for a control deck, a green for forest vibes, a Starlight for a deck going full cosmic.

Take the time to try several colors: the preview updates live, and this is usually where the original idea starts to evolve.

Step 3: reliefs, metallic accents and finish

Reliefs and metallic accents come next, and this is where your choice of finish comes into play.

With the Inksmith finish, the box is entirely hand-painted: reliefs, engravings and highlights are picked out with a brush, from a palette of ten paint colors, including gold and silver that catch the light along the edges. The result has a vintage, weathered character, and no two boxes are ever strictly identical.

With the Ironsmith finish, details are printed in color directly into the material on cutting-edge printers. Reliefs come in all eleven box colors, Starlight effects included. It's the premium option, the one for vivid colors and sharp contrast, with a longer print time.

Step 4: your own artwork and engraving

This is the step that turns a nice box into your box. The Forge lets you upload your own artwork onto the side panels or as a medallion. A club logo, an illustration commissioned from an artist, a personal drawing: anything that belongs to you has a place here. One important reminder: only use visuals you own the rights to, no licensed artwork or characters.

You can also opt for lid engraving, perfect for a name, a nickname or a motto. And if your idea goes beyond what the configurator offers, contact us directly: special requests are handled outside the Forge.

Step 5: the live preview, then the order

Throughout the configuration, the preview shows exactly the box that will be made. It's not just a mock-up: every piece is photographed before shipping, and if the box you receive doesn't match the preview, it gets repainted or remade at our expense.

Once you validate your configuration, the order goes into production in our French workshop, generally within 10 business days, with premium finishes possibly adding a few days. Shipping is worldwide and always tracked. As for price, a custom deck box starts at 27 €, with the exact amount displayed in the Forge based on your options. One useful note: since every piece is personalized and made for you, orders are final.
