Starlight finishes: nebulas and comets woven into the material

Some colors dress a deck box. Others give it a sky. The Starlight finishes belong to the second family: Nebula, Comet and Twilight fold sparkling particles into the very material of the box, like a starry night frozen mid-flight. Under a living room lamp or the lights of your local game store, the surface comes alive, glitters, and shifts with the viewing angle. Here is what hides behind these three colorways unlike any other.

Sparkle in the material, not on the surface

Most shiny effects sit on top of an object: a glitter varnish, a metallic paint applied as a final coat. Starlight finishes work differently. The sparkle comes from a glitter filament: the light-catching particles are embedded in the premium PLA itself, spread through the whole piece as it is 3D printed. The effect is not added afterwards; it is part of the box.

The result is a deep finish that lives with the light. Tilt the box and points of light switch on, fade out, drift, like a sky turning slowly above the game table. It is a finish that resists photography and rewards the naked eye, a small pleasure renewed at every game night.

Nebula, Comet, Twilight: three skies to choose from

The Forge offers three Starlight colorways, each with its own character.

Starlight Nebula

The nebula: a dense, suspended sparkle that recalls those clouds of stars captured by telescopes. This is the colorway for cosmic decks and patient strategies, the ones that unfold their galaxy turn after turn.

Starlight Comet

The comet: a livelier glint, the streak of light that scores the night sky. A colorway that suits decks in a hurry to fight, the ones that cross a game the way a comet crosses the dark.

Starlight Twilight

The twilight hour: that moment between dog and wolf when the first stars light up before the day has fully given way. The most contemplative of the three, for players who like their boxes elegant and a little mysterious.

As a box color or as a glint on the reliefs

In the Forge, our configurator with live preview, the three Starlight options appear among the 11 box colors, but also among the relief colors. That opens up two approaches.

The first: the whole box in Starlight. The sky becomes the backdrop, and understated reliefs stand out against it like constellations. The second: a classic base, black, purple or deep blue, where only the reliefs sparkle. Gears, scales or engraved motifs then look carved from a fragment of night sky.

Hand-applied paint can complete the picture: a drybrushing of gold or silver over reliefs and engravings answers the sparkle in the material. Optional lid engraving signs the box with your name or your deck's. The Forge's live preview lets you compare all these combinations before ordering.

A starry sky, a handcrafted finish

Every Starlight box is made to order in our French workshop: 3D printed in premium PLA at a 0.2 mm layer height, the optimal height for these pieces, then hand finished with acrylic paint and non-toxic varnish, with reliefs and engravings revealed by drybrushing. No two boxes are ever strictly identical: the micro-variations of a hand finish make each piece one of a kind, which rather suits a celestial motif.

Before shipping, your box is photographed. If the piece you receive does not match the configurator preview, it is repainted or remade at our expense.

Beneath the stars, your cards

Behind the spectacle, the structure is the same as all our deck boxes: up to 125 double-sleeved standard cards, enough for a 100-card Commander deck with its tokens, a 60-card Standard deck, a Pokémon league deck or a Lorcana deck. The box takes most sleeve brands on the market, Ultra Pro, Dragon Shield, KMC or Gamegenic, including double sleeving, and holds your Magic, Pokémon, Lorcana, One Piece or Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, all standard card sizes.

The closure is a snap fit, with no magnets at all: in a bag, at a tournament or on the table, nothing pops open by accident. The stars stay in place, and so do your cards.
