Cemetery, Dragon Mountain, Ice Citadel: Three New Themes in the Forge
Some decks want more than a nice pattern. They want a place: a necropolis where the dead never quite rest, a mountain ruled by a winged beast, a fortress locked in eternal frost. That is exactly what we set out to sculpt with the three new themes now in the Forge: Cemetery, Dragon Mountain and Ice Citadel. Three full scenes, designed as landscapes rather than ornaments.
Three scenes, one ambition
Until now, many of our themes played with patterns: knotwork, glyphs, symbols. These three newcomers tell a different kind of story. Every face becomes a landscape with depth, a foreground and a background, elements that overlap. The relief is cut boldly, which leaves real recesses beneath the raised shapes.
That contrast is what makes them work. On the models we are showing, the box is purple and the metal is gold: the purple stays deep in the recesses while the gold catches the reliefs. With our Inksmith finish, painted entirely by hand and revealed by drybrushing, light slides along the edges and leaves shadow in the hollows. The scene reads from across the table, and truly reveals itself in your hand.
All three models share the same starting configuration: matching base style and band, gold side medallions, purple box, gold metal, Inksmith finish.
Cemetery: a garden of shadows
At its heart, a dead tree reaches its gnarled branches toward a sky bristling with gothic spires and crosses. At its feet, two funeral chapels with pointed windows shelter half-open coffins. At the very bottom, the roots twist into scrolls, and tucked in their folds you can make out small ghostly faces watching the player.
It is the most narrative of the three, the one you keep looking at. It speaks naturally to decks that live off their discard pile, to undead armies, to strategies that bring back what your opponent thought was dealt with. And with Halloween a few weeks away, it also feels right on time.
Dragon Mountain: lord of the peaks
We already wrote a full article on the dragon deck box theme and how to design your own beast. Dragon Mountain takes a different stance: here the dragon is not a motif, it rules a landscape. Wings spread wide, it stands on top of a jagged summit. Below it, the rock drops in needles down to a crown lying at the foot of the mountain, like treasure left behind by those who tried the climb. Swirling waters close the scene.
This is a theme of power and height, one that makes you feel like you are looking up at the creature. It suits ramp decks that build up resources to hit hard late in the game, and of course anyone who put dragons at the heart of their list.
Ice Citadel: fortress of the deep cold
A citadel with towers as sharp as icicles rises inside a circular frame edged with runes. Wisps of frost wrap around it, stars pierce the sky, and at its base a skull reminds you that this frozen realm does not welcome visitors.
It is the most architectural of the three, and the coldest in every sense. It calls for control decks, the ones that freeze the game, lock down threats and win by attrition. In purple and gold it looks almost royal; in icier colours it takes on a completely different character.
Change the colours
The three models are starting points, not fixed products. In the Forge, everything changes with a live preview: box colour among our 11 options, metal tone, medallions, lid engraving. The band can also be picked separately from the base style, so you can blend two worlds on one box.
A few ideas to get started:
- Cemetery in black with silver, for a moonlit necropolis.
- Dragon Mountain in red with gold, for a dragon of embers and volcanoes.
- Ice Citadel in light blue or white with silver, for a sharper chill.
For more on pairing a box with its deck, our article on matching your deck box to your deck theme walks through the process. And if you want your name on it, lid engraving is available as an option.
The same workshop underneath
Beneath the graveyard, the mountain or the citadel, it is the same deck box: up to 125 standard double-sleeved cards, compatible with your Magic, Pokémon, Lorcana, One Piece or Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, and a snap-fit closure that will not pop open in your bag.
Every piece is made to order in our workshop in France: 3D printed in premium PLA at a 0.2 mm layer height, then finished with acrylic paint and non-toxic varnish applied by hand. Because the paint goes on by hand, no two boxes are exactly alike. Production takes 5 to 10 working days, possibly a few days more for these fully hand-painted pieces, and every box is photographed before shipping.
